The Department of Production Technology was started with B.Tech., (Production Engineering) Programme in the year 1977 and M.E., (Production Engg.) Programme in the year 1993.  First time in our country, the M.E Programme in Mechatronics was started in the year 1999. In the year 2013 M.E. Manufacturing with Specialization in Green Manufacturing (Part Time) was also started.  In the academic year 2015-2016, B.E. Programme in Mechanical Engineering was also started at our Department.  The undergraduate course in Production Engineering was accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) since 1994.  The department has organized many national level seminars/conferences/workshops/summer schools/winter schools and many short-term training programmes in the areas of low cost automation, CNC machines and programming and fluid power automation.  Since 1977, more than 55 research scholars have been awarded Ph.D., degree.  Currently there are around 70 research scholars pursuing their research work in the department.  Six sponsored research projects and many consultancy works have been successfully completed. The Department is sponsored by DST-FIST, UGC-SAP etc.
