• 13.12.14 – Today I am installed as the 61st president of the INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION TAMILNADU STATE
• An organization that – is Largest Voluntary – professional body – of the doctors for the people safeguarding their life and health thro’ valiant fight against Diseases and Death.

• THIRU.R.V.SUBRAMANIYAN & Mrs.Pushpavalli my parents gave life to me and are my 1st teachers who taught me the art of living a decent life.
• My teachers at school and colleges taught me not only to read and write but also the passion for reading – and developing knowledge.
• Knowledge in medicine & Hard work made me a good doctor I suppose.
• IMA Taught me the values of continuous learning cultivating friendship - Pleasure of doing community service – sharing social responsibility – fighting for our rights and what is good for people and shape me into a suitable person to occupy this chair. I owe a lot to you IMA
• I indebted a lot and Thankful to many great people in IMA Tamilnadu – for I have walked in the footsteps of leaders like DR.Chandrabose – DR.V.V.R – DR.Arulraj – DR.Kumaraguru – DR.Kesavan – DR.R.M.K – Dr.Capt.Ragavelu - Dr.Zameer Basha – Dr.Mohan das – Dr.S.Sugumaran – Dr. Gunasekaran –
• Dr. Sadagopan – Dr.Prakasam. Leaders Like – Dr.L.P.Thangavelu. Dr.L.V.K.Moorthy – Dr.K.Vijayakumar – Dr.Murugananthan– Dr.Senthil – Dr.Anbarasu –– Dr.Ramakrishnan (Trichy) are the Pillars of IMA.
• My one year close association with outgoing President Dr.M.Balasubramniyan has taught many good things to me and he will be remembered as one of the out standing Presidents of IMA. I will always seek his guidance.
• Hony.Secretary Dr.C.N.Raja a hard worker principled Secretary with dynamism will really be a big help to me in the Year – 2015.DR.MADHAVAN – the cool headed finance Secretary is a boon to our organization.

I hope they will not only inherit out standing performance of DR.SENTHAMIL PARI DR.BYRAVARETHINAM - DR.PRABU ILANGO - DR.BALAGAN RAJA – and also exceed them in 2015 DR.SENTAMIL PARI-DR.GUANSEKARAN – DR.THANGAMUTHU – DR.CHITTI BABU – In F.SS. DR.K.PRAKASAM –DR.T.N.RAVISANKAR - DR.PALANISAMY are roll models to emulate.
• President Elect 2015 Dr.Damodharan’s experience in IMA affairs is bound to reflect in our activities in 2015. The Chairman Secretary and office bearers of wings and schemes of IMA have impeccable track record, DR.ANBARASU and DR.SRIDHAR – DR.THANGAMUTHU are the work – horse of IMA Tamilnadu.
• Branch Presidents – Secretaries and Treasurers and other office bearers are the real foundation of IMA.

“IN HOUSE DESCIPLINE” BRANCHES WILL BE STRENGTHENED BY

• Enlisting more members and activation of the existing members and converting our organization into a professional union
• Branch office bearers participation – enhanced in schemes and wings to up date knowledge to keep pace with development of modern medicine
• Conducting elections will be mandated for voting in state elections and for contesting for posts
• Branches will be involved in more of community service activities.
• Encouraging Public – Private partnership will be a major agenda.
• Property committee of IMA with broader representation will and implements new projects.
• Zonal level Leadership training for branch office bearers under the Chairmanship of Zonal vice Presidents will be done.
• Prevention of CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE by Teaching school children a Programme called “ GOOD TOUCH – AND BAD TOUCH”
• Working for the Enactment of Tamilnadu Private Clinical establishment act which is more practicable.
• Negotiating with Insurance Companies for empanelment all hospitals with which conform to the norms and standards of N.H.B.
• CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT

Neither offers protection to public nor creates healthy health care environment. White paper should be submitted to the central and state Govts for exclusion of doctors from its ambit in a developing country like India.
If not atleast insert certain class of cases for exclusion namely accidents – emergencies and delivery related cases
In all our ventures I seek the fullest and whole hearted support of every member of the prestigious IMA Tamilnadu.

• We will urge the state Govt to implement Hospital protection act more effectively to protect the doctors and hospital from assault and destruction
• We will work for the implementation of pharmacy Act effectively so that pharmacies and medical shops will not sell drugs over the counter without doctor’s prescription.
• We would request the Govt of Tamilnadu to incentivise the hospitals by granting matching grants as given to Govt hospitals as both are health providers of course the private Hospitals collect a fees for the huge investments – but free the Govt the burden of meeting 60% health needs of public and pay salary for their own employees and for buying the medicines and equipments.
