


About Bharatha Nritya Sangeetha Academy (BNSA):
Bharata Nritya Sangeeta Academy (BNSA), Bangalore, India, was established in 1990 and imparts training in the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. Guru Dr. Shubharani Bolar, Founder and Artistic Director, BNSA, is an empanelled artist of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India. She is celebrated for her enthralling Abhinaya and stunning improvisations. Her innovative teaching style uncovers the innate potential of every learning individual to not only imbibe best practices of the art form, but to also build the mettle for Manodharma. Alongside the performing arts, being a Scientist in the Department of Botany at Bangalore University, she inspires students of the academy to skilfully build excellence in two demanding professions. To the credit of the Guru’s diligence, BNSA stands as a testament to being an appreciator ofthe performing arts and academia alike, with students having completed their Rangapravesha and dance examinations under the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB). Dr. Shubharani has choreographed and staged numerous dance dramas, and equipped her students to perform at auspicious and prestigious events.
BNSA has hosted workshops and seminars in topics on performing arts to educate and evoke interest. The academy also hosts a monthly event Nritya Sanje, to bring together art lovers and encourage budding artists. This platform will further be extended to welcome dancers from outside the academy to foster growth and knowledge sharing. In keeping with the trend of e-learning, the academy also conducts online classes for interested individuals. Students of BNSA bring pride to their Guru and academy, having set up dance classes in several places in India and abroad.

Kannada University is located near Hampi, an historical place. This has been an important place for many kingdoms like Hoysalas, Sindhs, Kapilas, not to speak of the Vijayanagara kingdom which originated here and reigned over most part of South India for more than three centuries. Vijayanagara Kingdom has also been the icon of Kannada identity and has inspired the Karnataka unification movement, symbolically representing unified Karnataka. Hampi has also been the abode of many a well-known Kannada poets like Harihara, Raghavanka, Kumaravyasa and Purandaradasa. Hampi is the treasure house of Indian architecture and has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Center.

Scope of the Conference:
Bharata Nritya Sangeeta Academy, Bangalore, in association with the Department of Performing Arts & Music, Kannada University, Hampi, will be hosting a “National Conference on Performing Arts and Dance Festival” aims to exchange the knowledge, recent innovations, and trends, practical challenges in the field of performing arts and creativity in young minds. The conference offers an immense opportunity for researchers and professionals in performing arts like Classical dance, Music, Yoga, Theatre, and Folk performers, Art educators, and students to demonstrate, exchange, and share their ideas and creative work with artists and art lovers from different states of India for professional development. There will be Keynote /plenary sessions on different topics in performing arts to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, skill, and experiences with specific to art forms. The conference also provides a platform for participants to share their recent trends in artistic work. The presented papers will be published after peer review by Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hanagal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysore.
