About the University

     Anna University was established on 4th September, 1978 as a unitary type of University. This University was named after Late Dr.C.N.Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Applied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities. About the Institution

     College of Engineering Guindy started in the year 1794, is the first engineering college founded in India. Now, College of Engineering, Guindy is the largest engineering college in Tamil Nadu. Situated in the southern part of Chennai city, the campus extends over 100 hectares abutting the Adyar River on the north and Raj Bhavan on the south. About the Department

     Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and the most famous courses of study at College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), Anna University. It provides excellent learning and research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate studies. About AU-FRG Institute for CAD/CAM

     Anna University has been in the forefront of international co-operation programmes in engineering and technology and receives financial and expert assistance from many countries for enhancement of infrastructural facilities in emerging areas of technology. AU-FRG Institute for CAD/CAM which was established in February 1996 with assistance from the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), is a result of one such joint venture aimed at promoting CAD/CAM technologies in the Indian Industrial Sector.
